Auto Numberings

Standardize numbering, manage ineffective items, and randomize question order for fairness. TestInvite gives you flexibility in how the test is structured and how test-takers experience it.

Auto-number all questions

Sequentially numbers every question in the test, starting from 1 through the last question.

Restart auto-numbering in each section

Each section begins numbering from 1, ensuring that question numbering is section-based rather than global.

This feature is useful for referencing items in reports, exports, or during reviews.

Ineffective Questions

By default, all questions contribute to the total score. However, you can mark certain questions as ineffective:

  • Ineffective questions do not count toward scoring.
    • They can also be excluded from automatic numbering.

This is commonly used for trial questions, experimental items, or questions included for practice without affecting results.

      Shuffle Sections

The shuffle option rearranges the order of test sections for each test-taker, helping reduce predictability and prevents answer sharing.

Shuffling can also be applied at the page or question level for deeper randomization, which is especially valuable in high-stakes tests where test integrity is critical.

      Best Practices

✅Use auto-numbering for consistency in test reviews and reports.
✅Exclude ineffective questions when running pilots or when introducing new content.
✅Apply shuffling to discourage collaboration and ensure test fairness.
