Test setting
Control the key parameters that define the behavior, structure, and evaluation logic of an assessment.
Adjusting test settings gives you complete control over how an assessment is presented and administered. Whether you want to enforce strict navigation, enable adaptive scoring, or enhance test security, the settings panel lets you align your test delivery with your educational or operational goals.
Profile Settings
Defines the primary purpose and behavior of the test:
- Test Name: Change the test's title which serves as its name.
- Test Description: Briefly describe the purpose or contents of the test.
- Test Folder: Organize tests by selecting or creating a folder.
- Labels: Add reusable labels to classify and filter tests.
- Tags: Add tags for categorization.
- Favorite: Mark the test as a favorite for easier access.
Test Type
Choose the test type that aligns with how the results should be interpreted and scored:
- Performance: Focused on right/wrong scoring.
- Inventory: For psychometric or personality assessments.
- Interview: For collecting subjective inputs.
Navigation Control
- Allow going forward & backward: The default option that allows the test-taker to navigate freely among the sections of the test.
- Allow only going backward: With this option, the test-taker can navigate to sections that have already been visited but can only visit upcoming sections in the given order, without jumping to sections that come after the following section.
- Don't allow going forward and backward: This option prevents the test-taker from freely navigating among the sections of the test. With this option, they can only visit the sections in the given order one by one
- Hide Navigation: Optionally hide the navigation bar for a cleaner interface.
Fixed Test Header
When enabled, the header (including time and test title) remains visible at the top of the screen, even when the user scrolls. This helps test-takers monitor time or test progress more easily.
Calculator
Allows you to enable a built-in calculator for use during the test. When activated, test-takers can access it at any time.
This is useful in math-based assessments or any context requiring manual calculations.
Time Limit
Defines a global time limit for the entire test. You can enter a value in minutes or seconds.
Set the time to 0 for unlimited duration.
Test-level time limit setting applies to the full test and overrides any timing set at the section or page level.
Auto Numbering
Auto numbering of test questions refers to the automatic assignment of numbers to the questions within a test.
- Auto-number all questions: Each question is assigned a unique number sequentially across the entire test.
- Restart auto-numbering in each section: Each section starts with question number 1.
- Ineffective Questions: By default, all test questions, except for those marked as ineffective, contribute to the scores of a test. You have the option to mark a question as ineffective by selecting the "Ineffective" option in the Page editor for the corresponding question. You may exclude ineffective questions from numbering as well.
- Shuffle Sections: Select the Shuffle sections option if you would like the order of the sections within a section are randomized for each test-taker. Note that shuffling can be made on page and question level as well.
Mandatory Questions
Define behavior when mandatory questions are left unanswered:
- Do Nothing: means that the test interface will not take any action if the test-taker tries to leave a required question unanswered, neither warn nor prevent them from moving away from the level.
- Warn: means that the test interface will provide a warning message to the test-taker if they try to leave a required question unanswered, but it will not prevent them from moving away from that level.
- Prevent: means that the test interface will not allow the test-taker to move away from the level without answering all the mandatory questions.
Security
Prevent selection (text copy), print, context menu (right-click), Google Translate, spell check, or include tracking barcodes or QR codes in questions that refer to the test-taker, allowing for tracking in case of screenshot or video recording during the test-taking.
Evaluate By
You can choose to evaluate the answers provided by test-takers for input questions after the test has ended. The evaluation can be done by both providing a percentage score and writing a nominal point value. You can set the default option for evaluating input questions to either percentage score or nominal point value.
Customize Section Weights
Apply different weights to sections, which affects how much each section contributes to the overall test score.
You may choose to customize section weights when certain sections are more important and should have a greater impact on results.
Assets
The asset library is a central repository of content that can be made available to test-takers during the test.
Consider using the asset library to provide content that you want your test-takers to access during the test. Placing them on a test page will require the test-taker to navigate back and forth between pages, while the asset library provides easy access to all necessary resources in one place.
These assets can be used throughout your test content—such as question prompts, instructions, or contextual aids.
