Create tabular input questions.
Creating fill-in-a-table questions
- Go to the Question bank and click + New Question.
- Select “Tabular" as the question type.
- Enter the question prompt in the text editor.
- Adjust table dimensions dynamically using the add (plus icon) or remove (garbage can icon) buttons placed at each row and column.
Header customization
Toggle the Header Cells option to show or hide headers.
Default Headers: Enabled by default (e.g., A, B, C for columns; 1, 2, 3 for rows).
Custom Headers: Disable “Default Headers” to manually edit each row and column label using the pencil icon. You can:
- Set custom titles
- Enable/disable background color for visual grouping
Configuring individual cells
Click the plus symbol on any cell to open the Edit Cell dialog and define its behavior:
- Fixed: Non-editable, used for static information
- Text Field: Single-line input
- Text Area: Multi-line input
Additional cell options you can edit are label, placeholder, hint, prefix/suffix, character counter, width and number of rows (for text areas).
Turn the Preview switch on to view the test-taker version of the question, with the tabular layout rendered as it will appear in the test.
