Creating audio recording questions

Go to the Question bank and click + New Question.

Select Audio Recording as question type.

Enter your question prompt in the rich text editor (e.g., "Describe your current environment in a minute.").

Configuring answer settings

You can restrict how candidates interact with the audio recorder using two options:

  • Time of the recording: set to Active to limit the duration (e.g., 60 seconds). If disabled, the recording has no time limit.

    • How many times user can retry recording: set to Active to allow limited retries (e.g., 1 to 10 retries). If it is disabled, test-taker is allowed unlimited attempts.

      Using the preview section will let you simulate the test-taker experience, including recording audio with selected settings.

      If recording doesn't start, ensure: 
      The browser has permission to use the microphone. 
      No other applications or browser tabs are using the microphone.
      Why use audio recording?

      Particularly useful for language proficiency exams, oral communication evaluations, and assessments of verbal reasoning or pronunciation, audio recording questions allow you to create speaking assessments in which candidates respond by recording their voice with added time limits and retry restrictions to ensure fairness and consistency.
