Browsing Questions

The Questions tab in the Question Bank is where you browse, search, and navigate your question library. It combines a folder picker for structural navigation with a filter bar for attribute-based search, so you can quickly locate any question regardless of how large your bank grows.

Navigating with Folders

The folder button at the top of the Questions tab shows your current location and the number of questions in that folder. Click it to open the folder tree.

• The tree shows all folders in your bank with a question count badge on each node
• Sort folders A–Z or by question count using the toggle above the tree
• Use the search box at the top of the tree to filter folder names as you type
• Select All Folders to show questions from everywhere in the bank at once — doing so resets any active filters
• Star a folder to set it as your default — the bank will open to that folder on your next visit

Filtering Questions

The filter bar below the folder picker lets you narrow results within the current folder (or across all folders). Filters are faceted — you can combine as many as needed. Each filter button opens a popup panel where you configure it, then you click Apply filter to commit — counts next to each option update live to show how many questions match before you apply.

• Find by ID — jump directly to a question if you know its numeric ID
• Question type — Multiple Choice, Short Answer, Code, Audio, Video, etc. Multi-select: matches any of the selected types.
• Language — filter by the language configured on the question. Only appears when at least one question has a language assigned.
• Status — Draft, Review, or Ready. Single-select.
• Tags — a two-level filter. Click a tag key to include all questions with that key set to any value; expand the key to target individual values — click a value to include it, click the ban icon to exclude it. Multiple values under one key are OR-combined; conditions across different keys are AND-combined.
• Labels — filter by label. Only appears when at least one question has a label assigned.
• Dimensions — filter by scoring framework dimensions. Only appears if your organization has a Scoring Framework configured; matches any of the selected dimensions.

Active filters appear as chips below the filter bar. Click the × on any chip to remove that filter individually, or clear all filters at once.

Sort Options

Open the Sort panel to order the question list by:

• Default — no explicit ordering
• Type — grouped by question type
• Status — Ready first, then Review, then Draft
• Language — alphabetical by language code
• Folder — alphabetical by folder path. Only available when “All folders” is selected.
• Most dimensions — questions with the most scoring dimensions first
• Most tags — questions with the most tags first
• By [tag key] — sort by the value of a specific tag. Available dynamically when a tag key is active in the Tags filter (up to 3 keys). Numeric values sort as numbers; text values sort alphabetically.

Acting on Selected Questions

Selecting questions in the list activates the toolbar actions:

• Mass update — change folder, tags, labels, dimensions, scoring, and metadata for the whole selection at once (see Bulk Updating Questions).
• Clone — duplicate the selected questions with folder/tag/label options (see Cloning Questions).
• Export — export the selection or whole folders (see Exporting Questions).
• Delete — remove the selected questions from the bank, with confirmation.
• Create Test — build a new test directly from the selected questions: pick your questions across folders and filters, click Create Test, and a test containing exactly those questions is created — the fastest route from a curated selection to a runnable test.

Stats and the Question Limit

The header shows totals for questions, folders, tags, and labels — plus a question limit indicator tracking your bank's size against your plan's limit: informational while you have room, a warning as you approach it, and an upgrade pointer at the limit.

First-Time Setup: Building the Repository Index

The Questions tab depends on a search index. If you have recently migrated questions from an older format or created the bank from scratch, the index may not yet exist. A warning banner is shown at the top of the Questions tab until the index is built.

To build the index, go to Question Bank Settings → Build Repository. This is a one-time operation; the index updates automatically as you add or edit questions after that.

If you do not see the Build Repository option or the warning persists after building, contact your account manager. Some migrations require a server-side rebuild.

Note

Note on dimensions: the dimension filter and facets include scored dimensions as well as associated ones — but only while scored dimensions are enabled on the question (a disabled configuration is a draft and is not indexed). In the list's Scoring column, associated dimensions and scored dimensions appear as visually distinct chips.
