Steps to create a rich content question:

Select Rich Content Input as the question type.

Use the question text editor to enter your prompt.

In the Rich Settings, choose which formatting and input options (e.g. image, audio, file upload, math editor, code, font, color) you want to allow in responses.

Optionally, configure virtual keyboard settings if a custom input method is required.

Rich content questions are always manually evaluated. You can use a rubric to standardize scoring criteria. Additionally, you can leave notes for the evaluator to guide the assessment process.

Why use the Rich Content Input feature?

Ideal when you want to assess expressive, creative, or analytical thinking.
Gives test-takers the flexibility to structure and format their answers, use multimedia, and demonstrate deeper understanding — making it perfect for essays, project work, and in-depth evaluations.
