Test Setting
Test Type
Define the overall purpose and scoring behavior of your assessment.
Updated 2026/02/23
The Test Type setting determines how the test behaves during execution and how results should be interpreted. Choosing the right type ensures that the test aligns with your measurement goals, whether that’s evaluating knowledge, profiling traits, or gathering subjective input.
Performance
- Purpose: Measures knowledge, skills, or abilities by focusing on right/wrong scoring.
- Use cases: Academic exams, recruitment tests, certification assessments.
- Evaluation: Answers can be automatically scored against correct solutions, producing quantitative results.
Inventory
- Purpose: Collects information about preferences, personality, or traits without applying right/wrong logic.
- Use cases: Psychometric tests, personality profiles, attitude surveys.
- Evaluation: Results are interpreted qualitatively or via scoring models tailored to inventory responses.
Interview
- Purpose: Gathers subjective, open-ended input from test-takers.
- Use cases: Structured interviews, essay-based evaluations, feedback collection.
- Evaluation: Generally, the responses aren't auto-scored. Instead, the evaluators may often choose to review and grade the answers manually based on rubrics or criteria.
