How to use the question import templates?

Especially useful when migrating content or working with large-scale assessments, templates allow you to add multiple questions to your question bank in one go, using a structured Excel file.

How to use templates?

  • Click on the "Question Bank" tab in the navigation panel.
    • Click the "+ New Question" button.
      • Select "Import Questions".
        • Click on "Select Template" to view the preformatted excel files.

          1. Select and download your template

          To select from predefined templates files and fill them according to the guidelines, choose "Import questions using templates".

          Select the template that meets your needs and download the corresponding Excel file.

          Each template is designed for a specific structure — number of options, number of tags, and whether or not it includes a dimension. Select the one that best fits your use case.

          2. Check the instructions

          Read the info and choose settings at the "Information & Settings" tab of the Excel file. Template options include the amount of answer choices, tags and 1 dimension per question, optionally.

          Settings available on the first sheet of the template are:

          • Shuffle Options (true or false)
            • Display Options in row or column

              3. Enter your questions

              On the tab named "Import Questions Template", you can enter your questions.

              Fill only the gray cells.

              Question column: Enter question text, then one blank row, then each answer choice. Mark the correct answer with 100.

              Folder: Name of the folder to save the question under it.

              Tag Name / Tag Value: Define tags to categorize the question.

              Point: Points awarded for a correct response.

              For templates with Dimensions: Dimension Name & Dimension Point, Dimension Negative Multiplier (enter a positive value; the system adds the minus automatically)

              Only copy the orange-highlighted output cells into the paste box.

              Final steps

              • Paste the generated codes into the designated field after editing the file.
                • Click Next and Preview your questions.
                  • Click Save to complete the import.
