The Test Editor

The test editor is where you build and configure everything about a test. It is a two-pane layout: a navigation panel on the left and a content area on the right. What appears in the content area changes depending on what you select in the navigation panel.

The Navigation Panel

The navigation panel on the left is the structural outline of your test. It lists the test itself, each section, and each page or builder within each section. Clicking any item opens its editor in the right pane.

The panel has three size modes:

• Minimized — the panel collapses to a single thin bar showing only the test title. Click it to restore.
• Default — the standard sidebar showing all sections, pages, and builders with their labels and context menus.
• Maximized — a wide layout that surfaces inline editing controls on every row. This is the most powerful editing mode.

Maximized Mode — Inline Editing

In maximized mode, each section and page row shows a set of chips you can click to edit directly in the panel without switching the right pane:

• Navigation chip (sections) — toggle Two-Way, One-Way, or No Navigation for that section.
• Shuffle chip — toggle question or page shuffling on or off.
• Time limit chip — set or clear the time limit for a section or page.
• Fixed order chip — fix the position of a section or page so it is not affected by shuffling.
• Rename — rename a section or page inline without opening its editor.

For Page Pickers in maximized mode, you can also see and edit the individual alternative pages in the list, each with their own shuffle and time limit chips. This lets you configure an entire test structure without leaving the navigation panel.

Navigation Panel Header

At the top of the panel:

• The test title is clickable — it opens the test profile (folder, labels, tags, favorites).
• A metadata row shows the test’s folder, labels, tag count, and related tasks at a glance.
• Test Settings and Assets buttons open their respective panels in the content area.

Bottom Action Bar

At the bottom of the navigation panel (in default size), a set of actions provides quick access to the key stages of working with a test:

• Reporting — open report templates, pass/fail rules, performance levels, and interpretations.
• Analytics — view test-level and question-level performance data (plan-gated).
• Diagnostics — access control panel, test papers, and question operations.
• Preview Test — run through the test as a candidate to verify the experience.
• Publish Test — create a Task with this test pre-configured as a step. This is the primary way to make a test available to candidates.

The Content Area

The right pane shows the editor for whatever is selected in the navigation panel:

• Test Settings — navigation control, mandatory questions, question numbering, evaluate by, shuffle, time limits, calculator, interface options, section weights
• Section editor — starting content, section-level navigation, shuffle pages, section time limit
• Page editor — page title, layout, shuffle, time limit, and the question list for that page
• Page builder editor — pool settings and generation rules for static or dynamic builders
• Test profile — title, description, folder, labels, tags, and favorites
• Reporting — report templates, pass/fail, performance levels, and interpretations
• Diagnostics — control panel, test papers, and question operations
• Analytics — test-level and question-level performance data
