The Test Editor

How the test editor is laid out — the navigation panel, content pane, summary chips, and how to move between sections and pages.

The test editor is where you build and configure everything about a test. It is a two-pane layout: a navigation panel on the left and a content area on the right. What appears in the content area changes depending on what you select in the navigation panel.

The Navigation Panel

The navigation panel on the left is the structural outline of your test. It lists the test itself, each section, and each page or builder within each section. Clicking any item in this list opens its editor in the right pane.

The panel can be resized between three states:

  • Collapsed — only the test title is visible as a small button. Click it to expand.
  • Minimized — the panel is narrow, showing section and page labels compactly.
  • Maximized — the panel is wide, showing the full structure with section chips, action menus, and add-item controls.

Navigation Panel Header

At the top of the panel in maximized mode:

  • The test title is displayed and is clickable — clicking it opens the test profile (title, description, folder, labels, tags, favorites).
  • Below the title, a compact line shows the test's folder, labels, tags, and related tasks.
  • Test Settings and Assets buttons open their respective panels.

Summary Chips

In maximized mode, a row of chips below the header gives a quick read of the test-level configuration and lets you edit them with a single click:

  • Navigation chip — shows the navigation type (Two-Way, One-Way, or No Navigation) for the test or the selected section
  • Shuffle chip — shows whether question shuffling is on or off
  • Time limit chip — shows the active time limit, or “No limit” if none is set

Sections and Pages in the Panel

Each section appears as a labeled row. Inside each section, pages and builders are listed as sub-items. The active item is highlighted. Use the Add menu at the bottom of a section to add a new page, a static page builder, or a dynamic page builder.

The Content Area

The right pane shows the editor for whatever is selected in the navigation panel:

  • Test Settings — navigation control, shuffle, time limits, calculator, interface options
  • Section editor — starting content, section-level navigation, shuffle pages, section time limit
  • Page editor — page title, layout, shuffle, time limit, and the question list for that page
  • Page builder editor — pool settings and generation rules for static or dynamic builders
  • Test profile — title, description, folder, labels, tags, and favorites
  • Reporting — report templates, pass/fail, performance levels, and interpretations
  • Diagnostics — control panel, test papers, and question operations
  • Analytics — test-level and question-level performance data
