Creating a Task
The task creation wizard in full: profile and purpose, use cases and their test compatibility rules, the three access modes, and composing the assessment from tests with per-step security presets.
A task is created from the Tasks page: click Create and a two-step wizard opens — Setup (what this assessment is and how candidates get in) and Tests (which tests it runs, as ordered steps). If you're coming straight from building a test, there's an even faster route — see “Creating a Task from the Test Editor” below.
Step 1 — Setup
Profile
- Title (required) — the task's name, shown to your team and — depending on your pages setup — to candidates.
- Folder (required) — where the task lives in your tasks tree; pre-filled with your most-used folder.
- Use case (required for regular tasks) — what kind of assessment this is: Examination (default), Recruitment, Certification, Learning Validation, Competition, or Other.
Purpose — Regular vs Free Trial
Two task types: a regular task for real usage, or a free trial task for evaluating the platform with ready-made trial tests at no credit cost. The choice matters because it controls which tests step two can offer (see the compatibility note below). Switching type after adding tests warns you and removes any that no longer fit.
Access
- Invite (pre-registration) — the default: you add candidates and send invitations with unique credentials; only invited people can enter.
- Open link (self-registration) — anyone with the task's public link registers themselves via the access form.
- Internal users — access limited to people already in your organization's user repository, signing in with their existing accounts.
Access can be reconfigured any time later under Task Settings → Access & Entry.
Step 2 — Tests
Compose the assessment by adding one or more tests — each becomes a step, delivered in the order listed. The picker offers your own tests and, depending on the use case, Test Library and Marketplace products; a source chip on each step card shows where it came from.
Each step card's menu gives you full control before the task even exists:
- Move up / down — reorder the steps; candidates meet them in this order.
- Change test — swap the step's test for another without rebuilding the step.
- Remove — drop the step.
- Settings — a quick security preset for the step: webcam monitoring (photo or continuous video), screen recording (screenshots or continuous capture), fullscreen lockdown, and AI cheating detection. The card then shows summary chips of what's enabled — or a “Default” chip when nothing is.
Create Task activates once at least one test is added. The number of steps a task may contain is plan-dependent.
After Creation
You land on the Task Dashboard: copy the login URL, add and invite candidates, and open each step to configure the full delivery rules — timing, pre-start gates, availability, complete anti-cheating settings, reporting, certification. The wizard's quick security preset is just the starting point; the step editor exposes everything.
The wizard optimizes for a working task in under a minute — everything it asks can be changed later. The one decision worth making carefully up front is the use case, since it constrains which tests the task can run.
When you've just finished building a test, you don't need to leave it to run it: click Publish in the test editor's navigation. The same task creation wizard opens — with the current test already added as a step, so step two is pre-completed.
- In the test editor, click Publish.
- Fill in the Setup screen — title, folder, use case, and access mode — exactly as in the normal wizard.
- On the Tests screen your test is already listed; add further tests if the assessment has more parts, or just click Create Task.
This is the fastest path from a finished test to a live assessment — typically under a minute. Everything else (candidates, invitations, full step settings) continues on the Task Dashboard exactly as with a task created from the Tasks page.
