Delete Test Sessions

Deleting a test session erases its entire record — result, answers and answer files, proctoring media, logs and AI evaluations — and leaves a per-session log of exactly what was removed. Sessions still in progress are never deleted, and the candidate stays in the task.

A test session is far more than a score: it holds every answer the candidate gave, the files they uploaded, everything the proctoring captured, the AI's evaluations and a detailed activity log. Deleting a session removes all of it, so that no copy of the attempt remains in the task.

What is deleted

  • The result — score, pass/fail, section and question statistics, reports and certificates based on it.
  • Answers — every answer record, including files, audio, video and photos the candidate submitted as answers, and images embedded in written answers.
  • Proctoring — the proctoring timeline with all webcam photos and videos, screenshots, screen recordings and connection-check recordings, and the AI proctoring findings.
  • Pre-start material — the identity photo and any documents captured or uploaded before the session started.
  • AI evaluations — AI-graded answers and their evaluation history.
  • Logs — the session's activity and event logs.
  • Integration records — the webhook deliveries made for the session.

The session also stops counting in reports and analytics — see How Deletions Affect Analytics.

What stays

  • The candidate — their record, invitations and other sessions are untouched; the deleted session simply no longer appears on their record. To remove the person too, use Delete Candidates.
  • The task, its steps and its tests.
  • Credits — credits the session used are not returned.
  • Data you exported or downloaded earlier — exports, PDF reports and certificates already saved outside TestInvite are not affected.

Sessions in progress are never deleted

A session a candidate is still taking can't be deleted, so nobody's attempt is erased while they are working on it. End the session first if it really has to go.

Deleting selected sessions

In the Test Sessions table, select up to 100 sessions and choose Delete permanently from the bulk actions menu, or use Delete in a single session's row menu. After you confirm, the sessions are deleted in the background and the run appears in the task's Operations list. Selected sessions that are in progress are rejected — a message tells you how many — and the rest are deleted.

Deleting all sessions of a task

In the task's Data Operations tab, Delete all test sessions deletes every test session of the task except those in progress, which are skipped and counted on the run as skipped (test session in progress). The candidates remain, so the task can be reused with the same candidate list — for example, to clear out trial runs before the real exam.

The deletion log

When a session's deletion finishes, a plain-text log listing every record and file that was removed becomes available from that item in the Operations list. Download it if you need evidence of the erasure — for example, to answer a data-deletion request. See Tracking & Recovering Operations.

If a deletion stops partway

A session is removed from the list only after every part of it has been deleted. If the operation is cancelled or a step fails, the session stays in the list with whatever was already removed gone for good, and it can be deleted again — retrying continues with what is left.

If you only want a session not to count, exclude its result instead — that can be undone, deletion cannot. And if you only need to get rid of the recordings, purge the proctoring media and keep the result.
