Multiple-choice questions are a versatile and widely used question type where the candidate selects one or more correct answers from a set of predefined choices. The TestInvite platform provides a flexible, feature-rich editor to easily create, configure, and manage multiple-choice questions.

How to create a multiple-choice question

Click on +New Question, then select Multiple Choice from the provided options and enter your question text using the rich content editor.

You can enhance your questions by adding formatting, multimedia elements (images, audio, video), and mathematical expressions directly into the question text.

Creating answer choices

To create a new answer choice, simply:

  1. Type the question content in the question editor.
    1. Click the plus (+) button next to the choice editor to add the entered choices.
      1. Mark options as correct or incorrect by toggling the True/False switch next to each choice.
Use the plus button to add the choice you've entered.

Mark the correct choices as "True", if any.
A correct choice automatically receives a 100% success weight; incorrect choices receive a 0% weight by default, but these values can be customized as needed.

        Quick question creation

This feature allows users to rapidly generate objective questions such as Multiple Choice and Matching with minimal configuration.

        Where to find it?

When selecting an Objective Question Type (e.g., Multiple Choice, Matching), a Quick Question Creation button appears to the right of the question type selector dropdown, presented with a magic wand icon.

        How does it work?

After clicking the Quick Question Creation button, a popup appears with the following elements:

        • Script box: Area to enter the question and answer choices in plain text.
          • Example section: Displays a formatted example to guide input.
            • Use Example button: Fills the script box with a sample question.
              • Validate button: Checks the question structure for errors (e.g., missing answer choices in multiple-choice questions) and provides warnings if needed.
                • Apply button: Takes the user to the Matching or Multiple Choice Question creation panel depending on their initial choice, where the entered question and answers are pre-filled and ready to be edited or saved.

Enter the question text, leave a blank row using your enter key and list the choice options you want to provide underneath it. Validate to check if the format is correct and apply.

                  1. Formatting options

Answer choices can include formatted text (bold, italic, underline, color selection), images, audio recordings, videos, mathematical equations, or combinations of these elements, allowing the creation of more engaging questions.

                  2. Answer choice display options

You have flexibility in displaying answer choices. Click the monitor icon next to the cogwheel symbol on the right side of the question creation panel, which will enable the Edit Display panel including the following options:

                  • Flex layout: Arrange choices horizontally (row) or vertically (column), set spacing, alignment, and margins.
                    • Dropdown list: Display options in a dropdown format to save space and streamline the interface.
                      • Grid layout: Display answer options in an organized grid structure.

                         3. Shuffling the choice order

To prevent answer memorization, activate the Shuffle choices option. This will randomize the order of choices presented.

                        4. Setting minimum and maximum selections

You can define the minimum and maximum number of answer options a candidate can select.

This ensures precise response control, preventing under-selection or over-selection.

                        5. Weighted and partial scoring

Assign partial scores to correct answers, allowing for nuanced evaluation of candidate responses.

You can set a threshold score; answers below this threshold won't earn any points.

Negative scoring can also be applied by setting negative multiplier values for incorrect selections to discourage guessing.

                        6. Hint and feedback integration

                        • Hints: Provide helpful hints that candidates can view if needed to assist them in answering the question.
                          • Feedback: Configure explanatory feedback that can be displayed immediately after answering or upon test completion, enhancing learning opportunities.

                            7. Preview and auto-evaluation

Activate the Preview option to see exactly how the question and choices will appear to candidates.

You can test auto-evaluation by selecting different choices and instantly seeing how scores and feedback are applied.

                            8. Associating questions with subjects

Link questions to specific subjects to enable multidimensional assessment.

Set points independently for each associated subject, enhancing detailed analytics and insights.

                            9. Importing questions

You can import questions in batches to streamline your question bank management.
