Features settings

Control test type, navigation, calculator access, and time limits. Optimize your test’s behavior and structure.
July, 2025

The Features tab defines how the test functions during execution. From scoring logic to time constraints, this section allows you to control key behaviors that shape the participant’s experience and enforce test structure.

Available Settings

Test Type

Choose the behavioral model for the test:

  • Performance: Focuses on right/wrong scoring—ideal for knowledge-based exams.
    • Inventory: Suitable for psychometric or personality assessments.
      • Interview: Designed for collecting subjective input without automated evaluation.

Select the type that aligns with your test's objective.

        Navigation Control

Configure how participants navigate between sections of the test:

        • Allow going forward & backward: Full navigation freedom
          • Allow only going backward: Participants can return to earlier sections but not skip ahead.
            • Don't allow going forward & backward: Enforces strict linear flow; no revisits or skipping.

Use this setting to define the flow and control over the test-taking journey.

              Hide Navigation

Optionally hides the navigation bar to create a distraction-free interface. Ideal for simplifying the screen layout during test-taking or when full navigation is restricted.

              Calculator

Enable or disable a built-in calculator tool for participants to use during the test. Useful for math or logic-heavy tests where calculations are allowed but external tools should be avoided.

              Time Limit

Set a time limit for the entire test session. When time runs out, the test is automatically submitted.

You can specify the duration in minutes or seconds, or leave it at 0 for no time limit.

Time limits can also be applied section or page-wide. Learn more about how to set different time limits for different layers here.
              Best Practices:

✅ Combine Navigation Control and Hide Navigation for a guided, secure experience.
✅ Define a Time Limit for timed assessments to ensure fairness and pacing.
