        Skill Areas

GELT test is designed to measure four basic language skill areas:

        Grammar

This part of the test consists of 36 carefully crafted multiple choice questions that cover various aspects of grammar, including syntax, sentence structure, verb usage, and tenses. Participants are presented with sentences or passages where they must identify and correct grammatical errors or choose the most grammatically appropriate option among multiple choices. The Grammar Exam aims to assess not only the foundational understanding of grammar rules but also the ability to apply them in practical contexts.

        Vocabulary

The Vocabulary section of the test comprises 24 questions that evaluate the breadth and depth of an individual's lexical knowledge. This section measures the participant's proficiency in comprehending and utilizing words across diverse contexts. The examination encompasses idiomatic expressions, various vocabulary, and terminologies associated with different domains, including but not limited to sports, education, health, and politics. Additionally, participants are required to demonstrate their knowledge of prefixes and suffixes. This comprehensive approach ensures a thorough assessment of the candidate's linguistic acumen and aptitude across a spectrum of lexical nuances.

        Reading

The reading section comprises 10 questions, assessing the reader's comprehension of the main idea, ability to make inferences, and the capability of identifying the author's purpose. The text passages strategically incorporate vocabulary to evaluate the reader's overall comprehension. The significance of vocabulary is evident in deciphering complex concepts, phrases, idioms, and expressions in both British and American spoken language. Furthermore, the selected articles represent current, engaging, and well-rounded debate topics, contributing to a comprehensive evaluation of the reader's English reading level.

        Listening

The listening section encompasses 10 questions designed to evaluate an individual's proficiency in comprehending spoken language. Test-takers engage with audio recordings and respond to multiple-choice questions that span various levels of literal and inferential comprehension. The subject matter of Testinvite's listening assessments is regularly updated to align with contemporary demands. Additionally, participants should be prepared to encounter diverse accents during the examination. It is recommended that users utilize a headset for optimal audio quality, noting that they are restricted to listening to the recording a limited number of times.
